COUNCIL OF ORCHARDS – What to do in case of stressful conditions in raspberry production?

Among the berry fruit species grown in Serbia, the raspberry has been the most important fruit tree for more than three decades, taking into account the volume of production, total area and realized exports. The agro-ecological conditions for growing raspberries are concentrated in a relatively small area of western and central Serbia, but in the last decade, raspberries are increasingly spreading beyond these traditional areas due to relatively good prices and easier marketing of the product. It is a profitable fruit species, it is easily propagated by shoots, it bears fruit early, and it reaches its full harvest in the third year.

Frosts, high temperatures, strong sunlight, drought, rain, snow, hail, high groundwater can cause great damage to raspberries.

Raspberry shoots can freeze during autumn, winter and spring. Autumn thawing is a consequence of the immaturity of shoots, while winter thawing occurs in frost-sensitive varieties. Late spring frosts can rarely harm the raspberry because it blooms late, but it happens that only the young first leaves on the native branch freeze.

High temperatures (above 35 C), strong sunlight, drought and hot winds can stop the growth of raspberry fruits, cause sunburn and other damage to the fruits, and even cause drying of shoots. In order to prevent the harmful effect of high temperatures, a black or green shading net is installed above the small trees, which must be at least 1 meter above the trellis to ensure air flow.

Malinjak should not be grown in urban areas, as hail can break the shoots and damage the tender fruits. Damaged shoots are not usable in the following year, and the new ones that grow after that do not have sufficient growth in the current vegetation.

The recommendation of the company Agrounik, in order to protect raspberries from unfavorable abiotic factors, is a combined treatment with preparations AMIKSOL in the amount of 2-3 liters/ha and Nika Super in the amount of 2-3 liters/ha. When the raspberry is in a state of stress due to the mentioned unfavorable factors, the synthesis of amino acids and proteins is reduced. With the use of the AMIKSOL preparation, free L-amino acids quickly pass through the cell membrane and are directly involved in protein synthesis, as a result of which the plant is quickly depleted. Liquid NPK fertilizer Nika Super contains a balanced content of macro and microelements in chelated form, enables proper growth and development of the plant, which directly affects obtaining stable and high yields.

With each treatment, add the bio-wetting agent LEPILO in the amount of 0.1 liter / ha.
