Description What is silage and why is it important to be of good quality?
Silage is a product that is created in the process of preserving animal feed using the ensiling method, through natural microflora or added, inoculated and selected strains of bacteria that cause and promote lactic acid fermentation.
Given that there are very few lactic acid bacteria in the leaves and that they ferment sugars according to the heterofermentative type, the fermentation process is quite uncontrolled, and the end result of silage is usually not of satisfactory quality, i.e. the hay does not have a nice taste and smell, so animals are reluctant to consume it.

The goal of ensiling is a kind of conservation of green plants and maximum preservation of their nutritional value for as long as possible.
