Fusarium wilt of tomatoes – recognize the problem and protect the crops!

Unstable weather with frequent temperature fluctuations favors the development of fusarium wilt of tomatoes. Wilting caused by the fungus Fusarium spp – one of the most dangerous tomato pathogens – has already been observed in greenhouses.

🔬 Disease epidemiology

Infection and development of fusarium wilt are most favorable to:
✅ temperatures of 24-28°C (expected in the coming period)
✅ optimal soil moisture
sandy soils with acidic reactions

The development of the disease and the manifestation of symptoms depend on the weather conditions and the virulence of the pathogen. A characteristic sign of the disease is the dark coloration of the conducting vascular tissue on the longitudinal section of the ground part of the tree. Due to reduced ability to absorb nutrients and water, plants wilt in the hottest part of the day, which is the first sign of disease.

Prevention and protection of tomatoes

For preventive protection against fusarium wilt, Agrounik recommends the use of the preparation ERWIX:
💧 Crop treatment through the watering system – preventively before planting or immediately after planting
💧 Dose: 1L per 5 ares
💧 Repeat the treatment after 7 days for maximum effectiveness

Symptoms of tomato wilt

✔️ Wilting plants in the hottest period of the day
✔️ Dark coloration of conductive tissue on the cross section of the tree
✔️ Reduced resistance and poor plant development
