Strawberry is the most important berry fruit species, primarily due to the high profitability of its cultivation, early fruiting (in the first year after planting) and very early ripening time (May-June), as well as the possibility of applying different cultivation technologies in open fields and in protected areas. The fruit is of high quality and can be used for various purposes. The strawberry is a type that quickly returns the invested funds, enables the realization of a solid profit, especially if it is grown in a modern way near large consumer centers.
The blueberry vegetation period in the temperate-continental climate of our country usually lasts from March to October. The strawberry plant starts growing in early spring. The root grows rapidly until the beginning of flowering, and the leaves grow intensively until the period of fruit ripening. During the winter vacation, which in our agroecological conditions usually lasts five months, from November to March, all biochemical processes in the plant take place at a reduced intensity. When air temperatures become higher than the vegetation zero for strawberries (5 C), the vegetation period begins.
The period when strawberries start a new annual cycle is the right moment to start with effective and timely protection and weeding treatments. In this period, it is necessary to carry out a high-quality treatment against the cause of leaf diseases, the most important of which is the fungus Mycosphaerella fragarie, the cause of strawberry leaf spotting, as well as two bacteria, Xanthomonas fragarie, the cause of angular leaf spotting and Pseudomonas solanaceum, the cause of wilting of plants.
The recommendation of Agrounik is biofungicide and biobactericide ERWIX in conc. 1%, in foliar treatment, as well as application through the fertigation system in the amount of 1 liter/10 ares.
ERWIX is a biobactericide and biofungicide containing the bacterium Bacillus subtilis, which has a strong antimicrobial effect against phytopathogenic bacteria. By colonizing the plant, B. subtilis prevents the survival and formation of a biofilm of phytopathogenic bacteria and thus protects the plant from attack by pathogens, whether it is leaf pathogens or pathogens of the root system.
At the same time, with protection against disease-causing agents, our company’s recommendation is the application of the preparation Unistart, through the fertigation system, in the amount of 1 liter /10 ares for 7-10 days and the water-soluble NPK fertilizer NikaFert 20:20:20 in the amount of 20 g per plant per week, or 2-3 kg /ha in foliar treatment.
Unistart is a liquid microbiological fertilizer-mobilizer of nutrient elements that will ensure better utilization of mineral and organic fertilizers, better absorption of nutrient elements and is the right choice for starting treatments at the beginning of the strawberry vegetation period.
With each foliar treatment, add the wetting agent LEPILO in the amount of 0.1 liter/ha, a microbiological preparation that contains plant growth stimulator bacteria, improves the action of plant protection agents and enables better adherence of pesticides or foliar fertilizers to plant parts.
