<\/p>\nWell-prepared silage is a high-quality coarse feed used in the diet of ruminants. It must be correct, loose, have good organoleptic properties, i.e. the color is yellow-green, have a pleasant smell and optimal acidity around 4.2. Ensiling is best done in dry weather. The optimal temperature is 20-25\u00baC. If the temperature is too high, the green mass will dry out quickly. The right moment for harvesting the entire mass of corn should be determined. It is the stage of waxy grain maturity (30-35% S.M.) and where the share of the cob in the mass of the entire corn plant is up to 40%. Silage is stored using a silo harvester. A tractor with a trailer goes along with it. The silo-harvester mows the green mass, chops it on the field itself, places it using an air elevator in a trailer (most often a tipper trailer), then the mass is transported to the silo facility and unloaded there. The unloaded mass should be spread over the entire silo. The thickness of the mass during compaction should be 10-15 cm, and it is best to compact such mass with wheeled tractors. The mass should be continuously compacted until the filling of the silo is complete. Also, it should be continued when the charging is finished and for the next 10-12 hours. <\/p>\n
Compaction is one of the most important operations in making silage. Air is expelled from the silage mass and transferred to anaerobic bacteria that produce lactic acid. Checking the compaction can be done by moving over the entire surface of the silo mass, especially along the very ends of the silo. If part of the footwear falls into the mass, it shows that the compaction is not enough. In case of silage interruption, it is necessary to cover the silo with plastic film. An important operation in making silage is its covering. It is done with foil that prevents the access of air and precipitation. The plastic film must be well tightened. It can be loaded with old tires or sacks filled with sand, straw bales, earth, in order to expel as much air as possible from the mass and so that the wind does not lift the protective nylon. Foils can be of different thickness, from 0.15-0.20 mm. <\/p>\n
They can also be used thicker than 0.20 mm. The silo can be covered with a canopy. Its function is to prevent precipitation from entering as much as possible and to prevent the action of the sun’s rays. However, if you want to achieve high quality silage, you can add bacterial-enzymatic inoculants – SILKO. SILKO can be applied with a knapsack sprayer or a garden sprayer to the finished mass before trampling and compacting. <\/p>\n

Application of Silk<\/b><\/p>\n
SILKO is a specialized product intended for the preparation of silage. Silko is applied for ensiling corn kernels or the whole corn plant. Silko contains homofermentative bacteria, which use more than 90% of sugar for the synthesis of lactic acid, which has strong bactericidal but fungicidal properties, important for controlling the activity of fungi (mold and yeast) in the eventual subsequent fermentation. In this way, SILKO increases the stability of the silage after opening the silage trenches. The lactic acid produced by the lactic acid bacteria from Silk inhibits the growth of other microorganisms that are intolerant to acidic conditions (yeasts, molds, enterobacteria and clostridia – the cause of silage spoilage). As the pH value is lowered, silage losses are reduced due to the conversion of soluble plant carbohydrates in lactic acid with an almost 96.9% energy recovery percentage. By using Silk, the natural fermentation process is shortened, the optimal pH value is reached faster, organic matter losses are reduced and the aerobic stability of the silage is increased. This leads to an increase in feed digestibility and improves the production results of animals. <\/p>\n
